About this opportunity

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, and practical sessions in line with approved module specifications.
• Facilitate engaging and interactive learning experiences that promote student participation and achievement.
• Support students in developing subject knowledge, analytical skills, technical capabilities, and professional competencies.
• Deliver practical learning using tools and technologies relevant to data analytics, statistical modelling, and financial analysis.
• Apply innovative teaching approaches and digital learning technologies where appropriate.
• Ensure teaching delivery aligns with LSBU academic standards and learning outcomes.
• Prepare, review, and update teaching materials, presentations, practical exercises, and learning resources.
• Support assessment design, marking, moderation, and feedback processes.
• Provide academic guidance and support to students during and outside scheduled teaching sessions.
• Monitor student engagement and identify opportunities to enhance learning outcomes.
• Support students in applying analytical and statistical techniques to practical and industry-relevant problems.
• Contribute to maintaining academic integrity and quality assurance standards.
• Work collaboratively with Course Leaders, Module Leaders, and academic teams to ensure effective curriculum delivery.
• Participate in programme reviews, module evaluations, and quality enhancement activities as required.
• Contribute subject expertise and industry insights to support curriculum development.
• Support the integration of current industry practices, analytical tools, and emerging technologies into teaching.
• Attend relevant departmental meetings and academic activities where appropriate.
• Maintain an active profile within your academic or professional discipline.
• Contribute to scholarly activities, research, industry engagement, or professional practice.
• Support research-informed teaching and innovation in data analytics, fintech, statistics, finance, or related disciplines.
• Engage with emerging developments in data analytics, artificial intelligence, financial technology, and statistical modelling.
• Encourage students to apply data-driven approaches to real-world business and financial challenges.

Requirements

• Proficiency in R/RStudio and Python for statistical modelling, analytics, and machine learning.
• Experience with Power BI or Tableau for data visualisation.
• Proficiency in Excel and/or SPSS for statistical and financial data analysis.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Git/GitHub, and reproducible research tools such as R Markdown, Jupyter, or Colab.
• The ability to deliver engaging and effective teaching at higher education level.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience supporting student learning and academic development.
• A commitment to academic excellence and student success.
• Knowledge of current developments within data analytics, fintech, statistics, finance, and related disciplines.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural academic environment.
